Cycle Sustain

Who We Are

Cycle Sustain is rooted in the idea that sustainability works best when it starts right at the places where people learn and live. We are a student led nonprofit that is dedicated to furthering environmental education and organic recycling initiatives. Since it’s start in 2023, we’ve grown into a network of over 2000 students throughout eight countries, who have come together to fight climate change through two core principles: learning and action.

Our current 3 core initiatives are community compost initiatives, at-home compost hub sales, and environmental education programs.

Our Founder

Our founder, Kelly Zhang, found her passion for the environment in second grade, where her teacher brought her to reforestation and cleanup volunteer opportunities. At the start of high school, she began volunteering with LA Compost, and there, she learned about the importance of organic recycling towards reducing food waste. At school, she is also involved in sustainability initiatives, including the development of a hügelkultur berm and student involvement with composting. With this passion, she started Cycle Sustain in her sophomore year to expand sustainability initiatives globally.
